Understanding stats helps you build the strongest team possible!

THE 6 STATS
Every Pokemon has these stats:
1. HP (Hit Points): How much damage it can take
2. Attack: Physical move power
3. Defense: Physical damage resistance
4. Sp. Attack: Special move power
5. Sp. Defense: Special damage resistance
6. Speed: Determines who attacks first

IVS (INDIVIDUAL VALUES)
IVs are hidden bonus stats unique to each Pokemon:
- Each stat has an IV from 0 to 31
- Higher IVs = stronger Pokemon
- IVs are set when you catch/hatch the Pokemon
- You can check IVs on the Pokemon details page
- A "perfect" Pokemon has 31 IVs in all stats

NATURES
Each Pokemon has a Nature that boosts one stat and lowers another:
- Adamant: +Attack, -Sp.Attack (great for physical attackers)
- Modest: +Sp.Attack, -Attack (great for special attackers)
- Jolly: +Speed, -Sp.Attack (fast physical attackers)
- Timid: +Speed, -Attack (fast special attackers)
- Bold: +Defense, -Attack
- Calm: +Sp.Defense, -Attack
- And many more!

Neutral natures (no boost/penalty): Hardy, Docile, Bashful, Quirky, Serious

TRAITS / ABILITIES
Each Pokemon has a Trait (ability) that provides a passive bonus. These vary by species and can significantly impact battle performance.

HAPPINESS
Pokemon have a happiness/friendship stat that:
- Increases when you battle with them
- Increases when you walk with them
- Some Pokemon evolve when happiness is high enough
- Higher happiness gives small stat bonuses

RARITY TIERS
Pokemon rarity affects how strong they are:
- Common: Base stats, easy to find
- Uncommon: Slightly better stats
- Rare: Good stats, harder to find
- Epic: Great stats, very hard to find
- Legendary: Incredible stats, extremely rare
- Mythical: Best stats, rarest of all

BUILDING A STRONG TEAM
1. Look for Pokemon with high IVs (25+ is good, 31 is perfect)
2. Match the Nature to the Pokemon's strengths
3. Choose moves that match the Pokemon's best attacking stat
4. Cover multiple types across your team of 6
5. Include at least one tank (high HP/Defense) and one sweeper (high Attack/Speed)
