Dragonite is the original pseudo-legendary, introduced in Generation 1. Its Dragon/Flying typing, 600 Base Stat Total, and iconic design make it one of the most beloved Pokemon in the entire franchise. Here is everything you need to know.
Base Stats
Dragonite has 91 HP, 134 Attack, 95 Defense, 100 Special Attack, 100 Special Defense, and 80 Speed. Its highest stat by far is physical Attack, making it a natural physical sweeper. The 80 Speed is its biggest weakness — faster attackers can shut it down before it gets going.
The Power of Multiscale
Dragonite\'s Hidden Ability is Multiscale, which halves damage taken while it is at full HP. This turns Dragonite into an incredible setup sweeper — even a super-effective Ice Beam only brings it to half HP, giving it a free turn to Dragon Dance and start sweeping.
Best Moveset
For a physical attacker: Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw, Earthquake, Extreme Speed. Extreme Speed is a priority move that lets Dragonite pick off faster threats after setting up. Outrage is another option if you need raw power over safety.
Counters
Ice types (Weavile, Mamoswine) and bulky Fairies (Clefable, Tapu Fini) are the safest answers. Stealth Rock chip damage removes Multiscale instantly, which is why anti-hazard support (Defog, Rapid Spin) is essential for Dragonite teams.
Where to Find It
In Pokeworld, Dragonite evolves from Dragonair at level 55. Dratini spawns in Kanto zones with Dragon type filters. Be patient — the final evolution is worth it.
