Getting Started

Create your account, pick your starter and learn the basics

👋 Welcome to PokeWorld!

PokeWorld is a free browser Pokémon MMO — no download, no install. You explore a giant 3D world together with thousands of other trainers, catch wild Pokémon, battle gyms, hunt shinies and trade with friends. It runs right in your browser on desktop and mobile, and the default play page is the full 3D map.

This guide walks you through your very first session: making an account, picking your starter, learning the controls and what to do in your first 30 minutes.

Everything in this guide is 100% free. You never need to pay to play PokeWorld.

📝 Creating Your Account

Two ways to start

Guest progress lives in your browser until you save it. If you like the game, enter your email when prompted — it takes 10 seconds and locks in everything you've earned.

Referral links FREE LOOT

Did a friend send you a referral link? Use it! Referrals reward both of you:

WhoReward
You (the new player)+100 coins
Your friend (the referrer)+200 coins + premier-ball a Premier Ball

Once you're playing, share your own referral link on Discord to stack up rewards too.

🎟️ New Trainer Trial — 3 Days of FREE Elite

Every new account automatically gets 3 days of free Elite status. Don't let it go to waste — this is the strongest head start in the game:

Serious about shinies? Spend your trial days chaining one species — the 2× Elite multiplier stacks with everything else. See the Shiny Hunting guide for the full math.

🌱 Choosing Your Starter

PokeWorld offers 24 starters across 8 regions — every classic trio from Kanto to Galar. Your starter arrives at level 5 and will be your partner for the early game. There's no wrong pick: every starter is viable, so choose the one you love.

You'll also pick your look: choose 1 of 15 trainer avatars to represent you on the map.

Can't decide? Fire starters hit hard early, Water starters are safe and steady, Grass starters shine against early Water and Rock zones. You can catch the other two trios' lines in the wild later anyway!

🎮 Controls & Your First Encounter

Desktop

Move with W A S D. The camera follows you around the 3D world automatically.

Mobile

A touch joystick appears on screen — drag it to walk in any direction. The whole game, including the full 3D map, works on phones.

Starting a battle

Wild Pokémon roam visibly around you. Simply walk into a wild Pokémon to start an encounter — no random grass surprises, you choose your targets. From the battle screen you can fight, weaken it and throw a ball to catch it.

Lower HP = easier catch. Weaken a wild Pokémon before throwing your poke-ball Poké Ball. Full details in the Catching Pokémon guide.

💰 Your Starting Resources

Poké Balls cost 200 coins each in the Shop, so your starting 500 coins buys you two balls with change to spare — and every battle win pays +100 coins, so you'll grow that pile fast.

✅ Your First 30 Minutes — Checklist

Follow this and you'll be set up better than 90% of new trainers:

  1. Catch a few wild Pokémon near spawn. Walk into anything you see — early catches fill your team and your Pokédex.
  2. Win your first battle. It pays +100 coins and +50 XP — and every win after that pays the same.
  3. Claim your daily reward. Free loot every day; log in daily to keep the streak.
  4. Visit the Shop and buy Poké Balls poke-ball200 coins each. Never get caught empty-handed.
  5. Claim a free egg at the Hatchery. Walk while it incubates — eggs can hatch surprising things.
  6. Add friends. PokeWorld is an MMO — friends make everything more fun (and they can send you referral rewards too).
