The Real League
Real players hold the gyms and the Champion seat — new leaders every Monday
👑 Gym Leaders Who Are Real Players
In the Real League, the eight Kanto gyms and the Champion's seat are held by the nine strongest active trainers of the week — real players, not computer characters. Their real teams defend the seats around the clock, even while they are offline. Beat them to collect this week's Real Badges, coins and XP — or climb the ladder and take a seat yourself.
Open it: press X or tap the ☰ Main Menu button → Adventure → Real League 🏆. You can also type "Real League" into the menu's search box.
On the map: a plate floats above each gym building, for example "REAL LEAGUE · PEWTER GYM — Held by … · ROCK · Lv cap 20".
Every Monday the seats go to new leaders. The league window counts down: "New leaders in …".
A new league week starts every Monday. The nine strongest active trainers are crowned, ranked by the Ranked ladder:
Points in the current Ranked season count first,
then rating, then wins, then trainer level.
To be crowned you need trainer level 8 or higher, to have played within the last 14 days, and a team of at least 2 Pokémon — at least one of them neither Legendary nor Mythical.

Every new leader gets a crown bonus: 400 coins for a gym seat and 1,200 coins for the Champion's seat. If fewer than nine trainers qualify, the empty seats show "Open seat this week" until next Monday.
Want a seat? Climb Ranked — season points decide first. See Battles & PvP for how the ladder works.

The gym type is only the seat's colour. The leader defends with their own real team, whatever its types — look at the team sprites on the seat's card before you challenge.
🧊 Frozen, Level-Capped Teams
Frozen at crowning: the team a leader had when the week's seats were crowned defends all week. Changing their team later does not change the seat.
Scaled to the cap: the leader's strongest Pokémon fights exactly at the seat's level cap, and the rest keep their proportions — never more than 10 levels below the cap. At Pewter Gym (cap 20) the team fights between level 10 and 20; at the Champion's seat (cap 70) between level 60 and 70.
Up to 6 defenders: Legendary and Mythical Pokémon never defend a seat.
⚔️ Challenging a Seat
Open the league, pick a seat and press Challenge. The arena opens with a trainer battle against "Leader · name" — your team against the leader's frozen team. It's a duel, so their Pokémon can't be caught.
One attempt per seat per day. After a try, the button reads "Tried today".
Win → that seat's Real Badge for the rest of the week, plus coins and XP. The button changes to "Badge earned ✓".
Lose → try again tomorrow. The leader earns coins for holding the seat.
The Champion opens only when you hold all 8 Real Badges of the same week ("Needs 8 badges" until then). Beat the Champion for 800 coins + 400 XP and a place on the list "Beat the Champion this week".
You need at least one healthy Pokémon — heal your team first. You can't challenge a seat you hold yourself.
Real Badges are a weekly collection: they reset every Monday together with the seats, and they are separate from the permanent badges of the regular gyms (see Gyms & The League).
🛡️ When You Hold a Seat
Your name appears on the seat's card and on the plate above the gym on the map, and a chip on your screen reads "👑 … · yours this week".
Every time your team holds against a challenger, you earn coins (see the table) — up to 8 paid defenses per day.
You get a notification for each result, and on your next visit the window "Your seat while you were away" sums up the challenges, how many times you held, and the coins you earned.
Leaders keep the seat until next Monday, win or lose. A beaten seat only gives the challenger a badge — it doesn't change hands.
🧭 Tips for League Week
Start on Monday. The Champion needs all 8 badges from the same week, and each seat allows one attempt per day.
Scout every card. The team sprites tell you exactly what you'll face — bring type counters, not just levels.
Work up from Pewter. Low caps are the easiest badges and pay out right away.
Want to defend instead? Before Monday, keep your strongest non-Legendary team in your party — that is the team that gets frozen.
